Superb Antique EW 1860 Block MEERSCHAUM Churchwarden HORN Estate Pipe Pipa

  

Here we have an excellent, probably 19th Century, antique block meerschaum estate pipe in a large bent. It is complete with metal bowl rim & lid, as well as a metal, mother-of-pearl and horn stem.

The meerschaum bowl is carved with the image of a lion, and has a beautiful colour. Also engraved on the bowl is " 1860 ". The maker's mark E. W (unable to identify) is stamped on the bowl rim. The pipe has been very carefully smoked and remains in excellent condition - just some light tarnishing. To the metal bowl lid. The stem's fit to the shank could be tighter, so may require a slight alteration for peace of mind. There is just a very shallow layer of carbon in the chamber. Thoroughly cleaned and ready to enjoy.
