MBSD Meerschaum Masters by Karahan, XL Mountain Goat, Block Meerschaum Pipe, New. MBSD Meerschaum Masters is our line for special, typically figural, meerschaum pipes carved by some of today's greatest living meerschaum carvers. For this pipe, we enlisted the services of Turkish master Karahan. Eskisehir's master Ayhan Karahan is well known not only for his skills as a meerschaum carver, but for his affinity for the Austrian schools of the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Vienna was once a powerhouse of meerschaum carving, rivaling even Turkey in its elevation of the practice into a genuine art form. Here he has composed a scene familiar to the old Vienna style, showing the agile mountain goat perched atop its promontory (with its horns cut from genuine horn, no less). As with Karahan's other creations, this one also features fittingly amber-toned acrylic stem, as well as a briar shank accent. Bowl Width: 0.79 / 20.06mm. Weight: 3.8oz / 110g.
